Sustainable Growth - The driver for cost reductions and efficiency
Speedy is determined to play its part in the global challenges presented by climate change. As the market leader in the sectors in which we operate the Group is committed to an approach based on innovation, leadership and the sharing and exchanging of best practice.
Our Getting Greener from the Ground Up communications programme, designed to get environmental messages across at site level, is addressing the day to day behaviours that can greatly enhance the environmental performance of construction sites across the UK.
This approach is then supported by our GO (Green Option) Initiative which provides our customers with a range of 'greener' tool and equipment options, based on independent data supplied by the international environmental consultancy ERM. Customers choosing the GO Options are also supplied with data on carbon savings based on a set of assumptions in regard to average usage.
We believe this to be an industry leading approach, providing the tools and equipment, measurement data, and addressing site behaviours to assist our customers to better manage their carbon emissions and set new standards for our industry. It is only a start but it is making a positive impact and provides a platform for future innovations. Suppliers are also being incentivized to continue to produce product innovations that can further address environmental performance.
Internally we are taking a proactive approach to carbon management, measuring our carbon footprint and targeting key areas of environmental impact to reduce our carbon emissions. Transport is our most significant impact and through a range of measures including the removal of fuel cards, the introduction of electric vehicles and the significant reduction in the emissions per kilometre of the cars on our company car list.
Speedy are delighted to have won the Hire Association of Europe's 'Best contribution to Environmental Issues' Award and a coverted Green Apple Award for our Enviro-Cabin which raises the bar on the environmental performance of site cabins during the construction phase. We would like to thank all our partners and stakeholders who have helped in these and other projects to support our vision of Sustainable Growth.
